Breaking new ground: The time for Legacy Hall is now
Now, it’s our turn. If we all pull together and raise the remainder of the $44 million needed in private funding, we can begin building Legacy Hall in fall 2022.
I am pleased to tell you that the groundbreaking for the new home of the College of Business is closer than ever. We can confidently make that statement after the Florida Legislature and Gov. Ron DeSantis approved the state’s $101.5 billion budget, which included a $30.5 million allocation for Legacy Hall. This latest allocation, along with previous allocations in 2017 and 2018, brings the state-funded support for the new building to $44 million – completing the state’s portion of the project’s estimated total cost of $88 million. |

Alumni couple honor their fathers with named scholarships |
|
Business alumnus Richard Wheeler (BS Management ’78; MBA ’79) likes to say his family is “all in” at Florida State University. He offers as evidence his wife, Bonnie (BS Special Education ’80; MS Special Education ’80), three siblings, two sons and their spouses, two nieces and two nephews – all who earned various degrees at FSU. Recently, the couple made a $100,000 gift to Florida State, with half going to the College of Business to establish the Robert O. Wheeler Memorial Endowed Scholarship and the same amount going to the College of Education to create the Anthony S. Bray Memorial Endowed Scholarship. |

Finance program earns entry into prestigious program |

The College of Business finance program has been admitted into the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Institute’s University Affiliation Program.Entry signals to potential students, employers and the marketplace that the FSU finance curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and well-suited for preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. A towering presence in the hallways of the College of Business for two decades, recently retired Ceasar Douglas, a former management professor and department chairman, died on June 30. | Move forward today: Earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Florida State in 2007 gave Heather Shappard an edge after graduation. “It propelled me to the forefront of a competitive job market,” said Shappard, a lead financial analyst with Lockheed Martin’s Apache Development Programs in Orlando. “The immediate application of real-world skills has been essential to my success and has helped me navigate industry demands. Additionally, the program’s emphasis on project work was instrumental in helping me become an effective team member and leader.”
Offered online and on campus, the college’s part-time MBA formats are accepting applications until Oct. 1 for spring entry. March 1 is the priority deadline for fall 2022 entry into FSU’s accelerated, full-time MBA format. FSU business alumni and students with the highest GPAs are now eligible for GMAT waivers. Learn more about the college’s six master’s degree programs and request further information at graduatebusiness.fsu.edu. |
