Gift helps seed new student-run real estate investment fund |
|
Alumnus Bill Lloyd (BS Real Estate ’86) says the hands-on experience he gained as a student majoring in real estate was a “game-changer” for him – and the reason he is in real estate development today. It was during his time at Florida State University in the 1980s that he learned about developing, owning and managing properties from entrepreneurial mentor John Lewis, College of Business professor emeritus. The R.K.M. Development Corp. president, along with his business partner, fellow FSU alumnus and company chairman Richard Maloof (BS Real Estate ’85), recently made a $250,000 gift to the college’s FSU Real Estate Center to establish the College of Business Real Estate Student Experiential Learning Fund. This gift helps seed a student-run Real Estate Investment Fund (REIF) that will offer students an opportunity to make investment decisions in both private equity and publicly traded real estate. |

Degree with benefits: In his role as a senior in the Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice at EY, Adam Holsing said he often uses the accounting and database knowledge he learned at Florida State to benefit clients with understanding their financial data and developing digital strategies. “Additionally, the team-based learning promoted during the master’s program was representative of the team environment I work in today,” said Holsing, a 2016 Master of Accounting (MAcc) graduate based in Miami. “I would not have the career and opportunities I do today without completing the program.”
The MAcc program admits new students each semester. Application deadlines are June 1 for fall entry, Oct. 1 for spring entry and March 1 for summer entry. FSU accounting alumni and students with the highest GPAs are now eligible for GMAT waivers.
