Stellar graduates to be inducted into Alumni Hall of Fame

Four outstanding Florida State University alumni selected for induction into the 2022 College of Business Alumni Hall of Fame will be recognized Oct. 13 at a black-tie dinner and ceremony. The recognition showcases business graduates who have excelled in their careers and made significant contributions to FSU, the college and their communities. The new inductees are:
Jim Henderson (BS Accounting & Finance ’69) remains an active and prominent voice in the insurance industry and a proven builder of great companies, including Central Florida-based brokerage giant AssuredPartners. He serves as chairman and CEO of AssuredPartners, which boasts 7,500 employees; more than $1.3 billion in annual revenue; and offices in North America and Europe. Henderson co-launched the company in 2011, and a decade later it already ranks No. 5 in the nation among property/casualty agencies, according to the Insurance Journal’s 2021 rankings. Also last year, Business Insurance ranked it the 11th largest broker of U.S. business. Learn more.
Brett Lindquist (BS Finance & Real Estate ’83) continues to thrive as a towering figure in the real estate finance industry, guiding The Mortgage Firm to more than $3.5 billion in residential loans last year. He serves as CEO and co-founder of The Mortgage Firm, which boasts 700 employees and 60 branches throughout the Southeast, with licenses to operate in 30 states, plus the District of Columbia. The company also secured a reported 4.91-star rating out of 5 from about 30,000 customer reviews on SocialSurvey, a provider of experience-management software. Lindquist also chairs the College of Business Board of Governors, which stimulates interest and financial support in the college and provides advisory services to the college and its alumni. Brian Murphy (BS Accounting & Finance ’00) continues to flourish as an adaptable, laser-focused and heralded businessman who has built Tampa-based cybersecurity provider ReliaQuest into one of the world’s most successful private companies. Murphy serves as founder and CEO of ReliaQuest, which boasts a global workforce of about 1,000; offices in the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, India and the Netherlands; and a valuation of more than $1 billion. The latter makes his company a unicorn, the term for a privately held company of such valuation – a rarity on a global basis. In 2021, Florida Trend included him for a fourth straight year in its Florida 500 list of the state’s most influential business leaders. His company has received accolades from publications such as Fortune and Entrepreneur, plus from entities such as Deloitte, the U.S. Department of Defense and the FSU Seminole 100. Learn more.
Scott Price (BS Accounting ’97; MAcc ’97) is an approachable and award-winning business leader who through grit, commitment and innovation has built cybersecurity firm A-LIGN into a rapidly growing global force. He serves as founder and CEO of A-LIGN, which boasts a global workforce of 550 employees; offices in Tampa; Denver; Sofia, Bulgaria; and Panama City, Panama; and more than 2,500 global clients including Alloy, Sprint and Raymond James. The industry continues to take note of the company’s growth with repeat appearances since 2017 on Inc.’s annual list of the 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America, and A-LIGN has been recognized for its culture, ranking No. 12 in Consulting Magazine’s most recent Best Small Firms to Work For. Rockwood School established with $10M gift

A game-changing $10 million gift to the college established the Dr. Persis E. Rockwood School of Marketing in honor of the late trailblazing FSU marketing professor emerita and provides transformational support to marketing students and faculty members in the nationally ranked program. In June, the FSU Board of Trustees approved the creation and naming of the school, which is believed to be the first U.S. school of marketing named for a woman, and the gift will help bolster the marketing program’s continued rise in national rankings. One of six nationally recognized programs in the college, FSU’s undergraduate marketing program ranks No. 17 among public schools by U.S. News and World Report. The gift from Rockwood, who died in May 2021 at age 97, and her surviving husband, FSU Professor Emeritus Charles Rockwood, continues a legacy of major donations from the couple to the college and university.

Legacy Hall breaking new ground

Construction begins this October on Legacy Hall, the college’s new home. The build is expected to take two years with a projected move-in date of spring 2025, which also marks the college’s 75th anniversary. “We are thrilled we can finally realize our transformative vision for inspired learning and collaboration,” said Michael Hartline, dean of the College of Business. “We greatly appreciate the support and enthusiasm of our alumni and friends who have given so generously to support our preeminence.” There is still time to donate toward the project, and naming opportunities still exist. Those interested may reach out to the college’s development team to learn more. No donation is too small to support our amazing students, world-class faculty and the building they will call home for generations.
