Countdown to 2025: A year of celebration
As the new year approaches, the college continues preparations for what promises to be an exciting, historic and game-changing 2025. The year will mark the college’s 75th anniversary and the completion of its state-of-the-art future home, Legacy Hall, scheduled to be completed next fall, with classes starting there in spring 2026. The college will honor its 75th anniversary with multiple special events, including installation of a commemorative stained-glass window in historic Dodd Hall. It also plans a year’s worth of storytelling. So, if you have any interesting photos, comments or stories to share from the past or present, please send them to 75years@business.fsu.edu. |

With roofs on, sides up, windows installed and bricks largely in place, Legacy Hall now bears the magnificent look of artist renderings that emerged years ago when the college’s future home stood only as a bold dream. Reality continues to march steadily closer now that, as planning advisor Mark Bertolami says, “increased attention has shifted toward development of Legacy Hall's stunning interior." Bertolami notes that current work involves all major tradespeople, including masons, painters, electricians, glass installers and mechanical technicians. A recent update from Culpepper Construction said workers were even continuing with sidewalks along Madison Street. That’s five stories – inside and out – of WOW! |

The college continues to climb in national prestige, with No. 4 rankings among public schools for its undergraduate studies in real estate and risk management and insurance (RMI), plus a No. 25 ranking for its accounting program, according to recently released U.S. News & World Report rankings. The college jumped to No. 31, up seven spots from No. 38 last year, among all undergraduate business programs at public schools. “The success of enrolled students and future graduates is our primary goal, so we are always encouraged when new rankings reflect our high standards and growing preeminence,” said Michael Hartline, dean of the college. |

Business students seized the opportunity to learn from the three new Alumni Hall of Fame members during the college’s annual Legends and Leaders Day. During a “fireside chat” panel on the morning of their inductions, the new inductees expressed “completely different pathways to their success,” said Jadyn Byrne, a junior finance major. She said the three showed success comes from “how much effort you put in and the motivation and support you receive from your surroundings." The interaction served as the featured event among multiple panel and roundtable discussions led by new and previous inductees. Said panel moderator Jamie Saturno, a senior majoring in professional sales and management information systems: "Speaking with alumni helped me picture a future for myself.” |

Four cheers for record-breaking fall events
The college enjoyed a record-setting fall for events that attract industry leaders and help secure rewarding careers for students – the Business Career Expo, Insurance Days, the International Collegiate Sales Competition and the Real Estate TRENDS Conference. The Career Expo, in September, saw its largest-ever turnout, with 2,300 students and more than 75 companies, while the ICSC – the world’s largest sales competition – welcomed 490 students, 217 company representatives and 130 faculty members for a record 837 attendees earlier this month in Orlando. Chuck Viosca, director of the FSU Sales Institute, which conducts the ICSC, noted that companies participate because they want great students as employees. “It’s quite a feather in our cap,” he said. |

MBA students get bonus from AI workshop
The college continues to emphasize, in classrooms and events, teaching and understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and the effects it will have on students’ careers. At a recent workshop for MBA students, Microsoft representatives emphasized that three out of four people use AI at work and that 71% of leaders are more likely to hire a less-experienced candidate with AI skills than a more-experienced one without. Afterward, Microsoft offered all MBA students in attendance a voucher for one of the various priced certification exams the company offers, after free online training, to build AI credentials. |
